Dividing what you built together is easier when you both see the same picture. At Aurit Mediation’s Phoenix office, you and your spouse sort out the home, retirement accounts, and debts with a neutral mediator, privately and on your own terms.
Your mediator helps you build one complete inventory, separate community property from separate property, and weigh trades that work for both of you, such as one spouse keeping the home while the other keeps more of the retirement savings. Aurit then documents your division for the decree and files it for you.

The court assigns each case to one of these courthouses by the ZIP code of the filing spouse (or their attorney), and you can file at any location.
Your property agreement becomes part of the decree, using the county’s Exhibit A for property and debt. In the division, property acquired outside Arizona is treated as community property if it would have been community property here.
Some retirement divisions need a separate court order. And because creditors are not parties to a divorce, a decree that assigns a debt to one spouse does not remove the other spouse’s name from a joint account. The court’s Law Library Resource Center can help with forms, though not legal advice.
Phoenix couples work with mediators who keep complex financial details organized and the conversation fair.

Founder and Mediator Michael helps couples work through high-stakes property decisions with a clear structure. Trained at Pepperdine in both law and dispute resolution, with a JD from its School of Law and an MDR from its Straus Institute, he has taught mediation as an adjunct professor of law at the Straus Institute and ASU's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, co-founded the National Mediation Training Institute, and has served as Ethics Chair of the Maricopa County Association of Family Mediators.

Founder and CEO Karen co-founded Aurit to give families a peaceful path through divorce, including the emotional decisions that come with dividing a shared home. Her background combines clinical psychology (MA, Antioch University; BA, ASU) with mediation training from the Straus Institute, and she has taught mediation at the Straus Institute and ASU.

Lead Mediator Andrew keeps the inventory moving and every decision documented. He earned his J.D. at ASU's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law and was named Arizona's Top Mediator for 2025 by the Arizona Mediator's Association.
Dividing property is easier when both spouses see the same picture. Aurit keeps the process organized, transparent, and predictable:
Assets and debts go on a single list, with community and separate property sorted and any gaps flagged.
You can balance the division by trading specific assets instead of splitting each one down the middle.
Your flat fee is personalized and set before the first session begins.
Arizona courts divide community property equitably. In mediation, you decide the division together, and many couples balance it by trading specific assets, such as one spouse keeping the home while the other keeps more of the retirement savings.
Your mediator helps you identify the issue, review the records that trace where the money came from, and decide whether independent legal or financial advice is needed before you finalize.
No. The decree decides who is responsible between the two of you, but the lender is not bound by it. Removing a name from a mortgage or joint account usually requires a refinance or the lender’s approval.
No. You do not need every value settled before you begin. Mediation is where you identify what is missing and whether an appraisal or professional input would help.
A clear, fair division starts with a single conversation. Your free one-hour consultation covers your questions, what to gather, and a personalized flat fee. Then you build your inventory and agree on the division together, and Aurit documents it for your decree.
